Sensex at 15000 July Week 1

The 30share BSE index ended off its peak of 15,007.22, to a record closing high of 14,964.12. The index rose 2.1 percent on the week.

STOCKS THAT MOVED on Friday

* Shares in real estate firm DLF Ltd. closed 0.6 percent up at 573.55 rupees. The shares had risen nearly 9 percent on their debut on Thursday.

* Larsen & Toubro Ltd. rose 1.4 percent to a record close of 2,364.55 rupees after its chairman said on Thursday the firm would launch a $1 billion infrastructure fund
in one or two months.

* IL&FS Investment Managers Ltd. rose 10 percent to 177.30 rupees after a television report that Bank of India had sold its 12.25 percent stake in the investment
advisory firm to its founders.

* Power trading firm PTC India Ltd. jumped 10.3 percent to 69.80 rupees after the Economic Times reported private equity firm Blackstone, Saloman Brothers and Goldman
Sachs are talking to the firm to buy 49 percent of its PTC Financial Services.

STOCKS ON THE MOVE on Thursday

* UTI Bank Ltd. rose 1.8 percent to 882.85 rupees in anticipation of strong quarterly earnings, traders said.

* Arvind Mills Ltd. fell 4.5 percent to 46.40 rupees after the National Stock Exchange banned fresh positions in the derivatives contracts of the company.

MAIN TOP 3 BY VOLUME

* DLF Ltd. on 16 million shares.

* IFCI Ltd. on 6.9 million shares.

* NTPC Ltd. on 4.2 million shares.

* Staterun Bharat Earth Movers Ltd. rose 4.6 percent to 1,222 rupees after media reports that the firm's public share offer received bids 30 times the issue size.

* IFCI Ltd. was down 4.4 percent to 60.15 rupees and Nagarajuna Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd. fell 4 percent to 22.75 rupees after the National Stock Exchange banned building fresh positions in the derivatives contracts of these firms.

* Vishal Retail Ltd. listed at a 75 percent premium to the issue price of 270 rupees a share and rose further. Shares in the company listed at 472.50 rupees on BSE, touched a high of 809 rupees and were later trading at 760.30 rupees.

* Retail firms like Trent Ltd. , Pantaloon Retail Ltd., Shopper's Stop Ltd., Piramyd Retail Ltd. were up 0.32.9 percent after Vishal Retail listed at a high premium to the issue price.

STOCKS THAT MOVED

* Real estate firms such as Unitech Ltd., Ansal Properties &
Infrastructure Ltd., Mahindra Gesco Developers Ltd., Indiabulls Realty
Ltd. rose between 3 percent and 12.9 percent ahead of Thursday's debut of
DLF Ltd. Traders said DLF shares could list above the issue price and
rekindle investor interest in real estate companies.

* Construction firm Valecha Engineering Ltd. Gained 7.7 percent to 271.55
rupees after it said its board would meet on July 30 to consider a bonus
share issue.

* Himatsingka Seide Ltd. ended up 3.4 percent at 121.95 rupees after it
said it paid $53 million for an 80 percent stake in U.S.-based Divatex
Homes Fashions Inc.
