Indian Stock Market October Week 1

* Software firm Hexaware Technologies Ltd (HEXT.BO: Quote) rose 3.6 percent to 125.70 rupees after it said after market hours on Thursday it had won a five million euro contract in Germany.
* Power transmission firm Power Grid Corp of India (PGRD.BO: Quote) made its debut at a 63 percent premium to the issue price of 52 rupees a share. The shares touched a high of 102 rupees, and low of 85 rupees. Shares in the company were trading at 100.40 rupees.
* Real estate firm DLF Ltd (DLF.BO: Quote) rose 1.8 percent to 878 rupees after it said its board would meet on Oct 11 to consider proposals regarding overseas acquisitions and raising funds offshore. The board would also consider participating in the proposed public offer of DLF Offices Trust in Singapore.

* Property developer DLF Ltd (DLF.BO: Quote) rose 3 percent to 888 rupees. The company said its board would meet on Oct 11 to consider overseas acquisitions and foreign raising of funds.
* Lanco Infratech Ltd (LAIN.BO: Quote) rose 1 percent to 408.50 rupees. Its construction division received an order worth 730 million rupees to construct a university in southern India.
* Ashok Leyland Ltd (ASOK.BO: Quote) fell 1.5 percent to 43.75 rupees. It said September sales were down 11 percent from a year earlier

* Rane Madras Ltd (RAMD.BO: Quote) extended gains on news it had decided to sell surplus land in Chennai for 553.6 million rupees. Shares in the company were up 20 percent at 98.90 rupees.
* Banks shares like State Bank of India (SBI.BO: Quote), ICICI Bank Ltd (ICBK.BO: Quote), HDFC Bank Ltd (HDBK.BO: Quote), Punjab National Bank (PNBK.BO: Quote) are down 1.2-5.8 percent on expectations the Reserve Bank of India will raise the cash reserve ratio (CRR). Two traders said there was talk there could be a 25 basis point increase in the CRR. The central bank meets on Oct 30 for a mid-term review of the monetary policy, but the market expects there could be action on the CRR before that.
* Eicher Motors Ltd (EICH.BO: Quote) jumped 12.8 percent to 482.95 rupees after the Hindustan Times newspaper reported Volvo (VOLVb.ST: Quote) is leading the race to buy a majority stake in the Indian truckmaker. See [ID:nBOM321107] for details.
* Dabur India Ltd (DABU.BO: Quote) (DABU.NS: Quote) rose 4.2 percent to 112.15 rupees after a block deal of 10 million shares, or 1.16 percent of the company's equity, at 107 rupees a share on the National Stock Exchange. Details of the buyers or sellers were not known immediately.
* Top software exporters like Infosys Technologies Ltd (INFY.BO: Quote), Wipro Ltd (WIPR.BO: Quote), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS.BO: Quote) and Satyam Computer Services Ltd (SATY.BO: Quote) are down 0.2-1.4 percent after the Indian rupee rose to its strongest level against the dollar in 9-½ years in early trades.
* Agriculture seed maker Kaveri Seed Co Ltd (KVRI.BO: Quote) listed at 18 percent premium to the issue price of 170 rupees a share. Shares in the company touched a high of 248 rupees, a low of 201.15 rupees and were trading at 238.45 rupees.

* Reliance Energy Ltd (RLEN.BO: Quote) rose 8.5 percent to 1,464 rupeesafter it said its unit Reliance Power Ltd filed offer document for initalpublic offer with the markets regulator.
* Zenotech Laboratories Ltd (ZENL.BO: Quote) is up 10 percent, the maximumdaily limit, at 167.30 rupees ahead of the firm's board meeting toconsider a preferential issue of shares to financial investors.
* Power companies like Tata Power Ltd (TTPW.BO: Quote), NTPC Ltd (NTPC.BO:Quote), GVK Power Ltd (GVKP.BO: Quote), CESC Ltd (CESC.BO: Quote) are up5-18.5 percent after shares of Reliance Energy (RLEN.BO: Quote) jumped inthe last one month, traders said. Most of these companies arecomparitevely undervalued as compared to Reliance Energy, they said.Shares in Reliance Energy are up 5.5 percent to 1,423.50 rupees.
* Real estate firm DLF Ltd (DLF.BO: Quote) jumped as much as 14.6 percentto 879.10 rupees on news of its plans to develop a $12 billion housing andcommercial real estate project near Bangalore along with Dubai-governmentowned Limitless. The shares were trading up 12.14 percent at 860 rupees

* Mirc Electronics Ltd (MIRC.BO: Quote) is up 14.35 percent at 25.10 rupees after the Economic Times newspaper reported that two of the three founders of the firm have broken off with the third and started talks with rival Videocon and Future Capital to sell a substantial stake in the main holding company that holds stake in the Mirc. Company officials could not be reached for comment.

* Jewellery firm Gitanjali Gems Ltd (GTGM.BO: Quote) extended gains after it said its board would meet on Oct. 6 to consider raising equity capital through various means. Shares in the company were up 3.4 percent at 330 rupees.

* Reliance Energy Ltd (RLEN.BO: Quote) jumped 6.5 percent to 1,284 rupees on plans for an initial public offer by its Reliance Power Ltd subsidiary.

* Kavveri Telecom Products Ltd (KATL.BO: Quote) rose 5 percent, its maximum daily limit, to 160.20 rupees after the company acquired the technology, intellectual property rights and patents on cellular infrastructure base station antenna from U.S.-based PCTEL Inc
