STOCKS ON THE MOVE

* Top mortgage firm Housing Finance Development Corp rose 3.08 percent to 2,960.75 rupees on market talk of higher valuation of its stake in its asset management company, traders said.
HDFC owns 60 percent in HDFC Asset Management Co Ltd with Standard Life Investments as its 40 percent partner.

* Leading mobile services operator Bharti Airtel was up 2.5 percent at 995 rupees. The company said over the weekend it had entered into an agreement with Vodafone and Idea Cellular Ltd to share 70,000 telecom towers.

The stock has gained more than 8 percent in six sessions.

* Nicco Corp rose by its daily limit of 5 percent to 41.45 rupees, after the company said it would get 1.3 billion rupees for transfer of its cable business to a joint venture.

* Construction firm Maytas Infra Ltd gained 2.6 percent to 937.90 rupees after it secured a 2.33 billion rupee project to build an integrated township in the eastern state of

Orissa for Vedanta Alumina Ltd.

* PSL Ltd rose 1.7 percent to 505 rupees after steel pipe maker said its board would meet on Dec. 14 to consider raising $100 million in convertibles or shares overseas.

* Indian Hotels Co Ltd, EIH Ltd, Hotel Leela Venture Ltd rose between 1 to 3 percent, after tourist arrivals in India rose 15.5 percent in November from a year ago.
